Today's mathematics is Knowledge Power all born to Equality. Knowledge is the foundation of all things in existence. Knowledge is one who possesses knowledge of self. To do the knowledge is to look, listen, learn, observe, and respect. Knowledge is infinite. Power is the truth, the light that shines to let the deaf hear, the dumb speak, and the blind see, leading one out of the triple stages of darkness, which is ignorance. Equality is the state of being equal. Equality means to deal equally. Equality is for each one to teach one according to his/her knowledge.

I see today's mathematics as showing and proving that Knowledge and Power are not the same thing as the old adage proposes. Power, symbolizing truth, is but an extension of knowledge -- Knowledge/foundation combined with power/truth gives birth to equality.

Wisdom is one's wise words, ways, and actions based on knowledge. Wisdom is the manifestation/reflection of knowledge. Knowledge and wisdom symbolize the sun and the moon, man and woman respectively. Understanding is the best part of knowledge and wisdom. Love is supreme understanding. The only thing better than knowing, is knowing together. Equality means to desire for your brother/sister that which you desire for yourself; equality is understanding understood.

A Teaching Wind: Insight on the Thanksgiving Holiday

The truth about thanksgiving. We wish to preface these following Truths, by firmly stating that this is not about promoting any division of people, nor is it intended to arouse any guilt (which is worthless). We simply wish to unveil the facts concerning the basis for, and the founding of a holiday that has served to keep alive, for 358 years, great pain, frustration and deep sadness among native peoples. In 1637 in Connecticut: Just before dawn, colonial militia men attacked, surrounding the Pequot tribal village completely, setting fire all around, burning alive over 700 men, women and children. The eerie screams could be heard for miles according to neighboring tribes. The few Pequots that managed to escape were immediately shot down, except for a handful that were held captive and sold as slaves into Boston households. The militia men celebrated on their way home from the slaughter, drinking and cheering upon their return, that same day, signed into law with Governor Bradford that: "This day forth shall be a day of celebration and thanksgiving for subduing the Pequots." (Massachusetts document) This is how the "holyday" was founded. The famous and fictitious story of a "Thanksgiving dinner" in 1621 with the Indians and Pilgrims never happened. In fact, rats that jumped ship even before the Pilgrims set foot ashore, infected the Wampanoags with the deadly Smallpox. The Wampanoags had no resistance to this foreign disease and soon started dropping dead everywhere. They sure couldn't help the Pilgrims when they couldn't help themselves, but the Pilgrims managed to repeatedly steal their grain supplies and other food. The Pilgrim-Indian dinner was invented many years after the Pequot slaughter to instill both a false pride in Americans about the founding of their country and to cover up the True founding: Slaughter, steal land, give thanks. Which started with the Pequots and spread across the entire country, leaving millions dead and remaining survivors shoved onto "reservation" prisons. Between the big lie about the 1621 "Dinner" and the Truth concealed for 358 years, it is very difficult to watch this celebration year in and year out. True thanksgiving, in Native understanding, is ever day, it is a way of life. Would anyone tolerate a "Happy Holocaust Day" in Germany, and give it a Hebrew name??? I don't think so... Americans do need to find out the Truth, so we can all have a "Harvest Dinner" on another day, making a new beginning through education, and change this "Thanksgiving Day" to a National day: "A Teaching Wind," an All Native Peoples Day, including remembrance of the Pequot People.

I feel moved by this historic moment. I think that Barack Obama will represent a change... I never thought that I would live to see a Black American President. The ramifications of this fact are staggering. This moment will be perceived by many as the realization of Martin Luther King Jr.'s I Have a Dream speech. Some will equate this moment to reparations for slavery and the Black Holocaust. And of course many will downplay the significance of this moment, some even booing as did the John McCain concession speech crowd, but none will deny that history is being made.

Now I will sit and watch CNN, eagerly awaiting Barack Obama's speech in Chicago.

AMSTERDAM - Amsterdam’s sex workers came to work early on Saturday to offer a free look at the city’s famed red-light district.
Hundreds of wide-eyed visitors queued in the sunshine to enter the dimly-lit sex clubs and peep shows that draw thousands to the city and to snoop around prostitutes’ neon-lit boudoirs.
“I think the open day is a great idea,” said Love, an erotic dancer at Amsterdam’s Banana Bar, who was on hand to answer questions and pose for photographs in fluorescent negligee.
“It is especially interesting for women. If they learn what we do here they will realize it is not a big deal if their husbands or boyfriends want to come here.”

Organizers staged the open day to counter bad publicity surrounding the 800-year-old district after harrowing reports of forced prostitution, human trafficking and organized crime.

More than 30 brothels are fighting closure after officials revoked their licenses last year over suspected links to money laundering and drug dealing.

But tourism authorities say the district — a warren of narrow alleys and canals lined with sex shops, brothels and neon signs — is as big an attraction as Amsterdam’s art museums and coffee shops, where marijuana is freely smoked and sold.

‘Some things have definitely surprised me’
Every night visitors throng the streets, agog at scantily clad women sitting behind huge red-lit windows, and who sell their services for as little as $66.

“I am here because my wife was interested in coming along,” said 63-year-old Evert Rijnders from Haarlem.

His wife Jos added: “This has been a chance to look behind the scenes, and some things have definitely surprised me.”

Organizer Jacco Wanders displayed a typical prostitute’s bedroom, usually concealed behind red velvet curtains and fitted with an emergency alarm bell in case a client turns violent.

He laughed as visitors posed in the tall street-facing window or bounced around on the mattress.

“This day is to help break down taboos around prostitution and to create more understanding and respect,” he said.

‘They deserve respect’
The “open day” concludes with the unveiling of a statue to an unknown sex worker, intended to honor those employed in the industry world-wide, including those without the same protection found in the Netherlands, where prostitution is legal.

Amsterdam’s window-prostitutes are self-employed taxpayers, hiring their own windows at around $130 per night.

“People who work in the sex industry don’t get enough respect,” said Mariska Majoor, a former prostitute who now runs the red-light district’s information center.

“There are millions of them and many are in trouble. Some are abused by clients or pimps and it is important for them to know that they deserve respect.”

LONDON–Steps from the Queen, spitting distance from Prime Minister Tony Blair, and with his voice ricocheting off the hundreds of statues and monuments in one of Christendom's most famous edifices, a lone protester yesterday halted Britain's national service marking 200 years since the end of the slave trade.

As the commemorative service entered its most solemn portion in Westminster Abbey – coronation court to monarchs and burial ground to 3,300 of Britain's finest citizens – the protester struck, bringing the event to a halt.

Security and church officials hesitated, afraid to escalate a public relations disaster.

Which white man wanted to be photographed hauling a black man out of church in handcuffs on the day the nation came to seek forgiveness for a practice the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, had just called "this atrocity" and "universal sinfulness"?

So, Toyin Agbetu had a royal audience – and he gave them a piece of his mind.

"This is a disgrace to our ancestors," he shouted, jabbing his finger at the Queen, sitting beside Prince Philip. "Millions of our ancestors are in the Atlantic," he said, a reference to the massive losses at sea aboard slave ships.

"`Sorry' is so hard for you, sir," he screamed at Blair.

Everyone present knew Blair had refused to pronounce an official apology for Britain's central role in the trade that enslaved as many as 20 million Africans in the colonies' cotton, tobacco and sugar plantations.

"This is an insult. We should not be here. All you Christians who are Africans should walk out of here," the man said before being eased out beneath the soaring 31-metre-high arches.

He was greeted outside the abbey by a small group of protesters, chanting: "1807 to 2007, nothing's changed." Then he was arrested.

Some 2,000 eminent Londoners – royals, diplomats, politicians, church leaders, and descendants of African slaves and British slavers – had poured into Westminster Abbey yesterday, seeking forgiveness and healing from the horrors of the slave trade.

Most passed through the Great West Door, where statues of 10 great world figures, Martin Luther King Jr., among them, look down on visitors to this, the Queen's church.

Along the north and south aisles, through the choir section, Poets' Corner, tombs of monarchs, memorials, effigies, plaques and monuments, the invited guests paraded past the pride of Britain – the martyrs and saints and knighted lot bearing silent witness. At almost every step, feet trudged on the graves of countrymen – William Wilberforce, Charles Dickens, Rudyard Kipling, George Frederick Handel, Laurence Olivier. Over there is the tomb of Sir Isaac Newton, over here the likenesses of past prime ministers. Not to mention the kings and queens and courtiers buried in shrines and tombs long looted for their treasures.

Near noon, with the organ that the incomparable Henry Purcell once played (it's been repaired) soaring above the congregational hymn "Praise My Soul the King of Heaven," the procession took the archbishop, leading clergy of other denominations and the Queen up the south aisle, right past a row of journalists – past a descendant of Wilberforce, the great abolitionist; another reporter; and finally, a "reporter" wearing a traditional African print shirt.

Queen Elizabeth, to the right of Prince Philip, walked within inches of this man on her way to the Sacrarium, the rostrum where her gold and burgundy chair rested.

The music was heavenly.

Relatives of Wilberforce carried in a copy of the Act of Parliament of 1807 that ended the slave trade, directly behind three escorts bearing the first edition of Olaudah Equiano's book, Interesting Narrative of a Slave, which brought the first-hand account of slavery's horrors to Britain in the 1700s.

Poignant and moving, the moment was captured by the Adventist Vocal Ensemble singing the traditional negro spiritual, "There is a Balm in Gilead," with such pathos and drama that the massive structure seemed to heave and exhale as the harmonies settled on the words "sin-sick soul."

Wilberforce's parliamentary speech from 1789, a spiritual, scripture and orchestral pronouncement took the archbishop to the pulpit for his sermon.

The national commemorative service was to be the high point of events marking the bicentenary. It also underscored the conundrum the event created for the Church of England, the monarchy and Britain.

Of all the European countries that benefited from the slave trade, Britain is doing the most to face up to its past. Some £30 million are being spent on the bicentenary – in displays and museum exhibits, dramatic shows, commemorations and development of a school curriculum.

But Blair, fearing any statement of apology might fuel attempts to seek reparations, has skated around the issue, angering some.

The Church of England owned hundred of slaves, branded them like cattle on plantations in Barbados and, of course, made money off the evil. The church has apologized and is studying what to do about reparations.

The Queen, meanwhile, has been mum on the subject. The monarchy, too, was deeply involved in the early slave trade. Queen Elizabeth I invested in the early voyages of John Hawkins, loaned him her armed 700-ton ship, Jesus of Lubeck, as a slave vessel, made money from the investment, and knighted Hawkins for his efforts.

Other royals followed suit.

A few years ago, Rastafarians from Jamaica wrote Queen Elizabeth II seeking reparations. Her response, lawyerly, skirted the issue this way:

"Under the statue of the International Civil Court, acts of enslavement committed today do constitute crimes against humanity. But the historic slave trade was not a crime against humanity or contrary to international law at the time when the U.K. government condoned it."

Nick Hazelwood, in his book The Queen's Slave Trader: John Hawkyns, Elizabeth and Trafficking in Human Souls, writes: "In their simplest form the Hawkins voyages were exercises in turning a quick profit: for the Queen, for himself, and for the group of rich London merchants and royal courtiers who had invested in the expedition."

If all that weighed on Archbishop Rowan Williams, he did not shrink.

"We are born into a world already scarred by the internationalizing and industrializing of slavery ... and our human inheritance is shadowed by it," he told the Queen and her guests.

"We who are heirs of the slave-owning and slave-trading nations of the past have to face the fact that our historic prosperity was built in large part on this atrocity; those who are heirs of the communities ravaged by the slave trade know very well that much of their present suffering and struggling is the result of centuries of abuse."

It is true that other European countries, as well as Arab and Asian nations, share the stain of slavery, today and in the past, he said. "But today it is for us to face our history; the Atlantic trade was our contribution to this universal sinfulness.

"Slavery is not a regional problem in the human world; it is hideously persistent in our nations and cultures."

With that said, the service moved to the most solemn portion, Confession and Absolution.

As the Dean of Westminster led the audience in prayer, starting with "Let us therefore confess our sins in penitence ..." the "reporter" in the African print shirt stood up and walked to the bottom of the steps, below the Queen.

For a moment it seemed part of the program.

Stunned security and church officials hesitated, then grabbed him, and he stumbled to the ground, shouting, staccato: "Let. Go. Of. Me." Several black guests moved in to calm the protester.

Johnny Hogg, a descendant of Wilberforce, was one seat over when the protester rose.

"This is a public relations disaster on a day like today," Hogg said afterwards. "Four white people wrestling a black guy to the ground is not what you want (in news clips and pictures)."

Toyin Agbetu, 39, it turns out, is a writer and founder of a non-profit organization and website called Ligali, which challenges negative stereotypes of people of African descent in the media. He had obtained a media pass to be present in the abbey.

Hogg and descendants of William Clarkson, the other white abolitionist who supplied Wilberforce with much of his ammunition, say Agbetu injected a dose of raw reality into a dignified, carefully scripted service.

"These things run very deep," said Saphie Clarkson.

"He's got a point," said Caroline Roots, a Clarkson descendant. "When I saw him, I thought, `Blimey, how did that happen?' He snuck under the wire."

"If nothing else, it makes us realize this is still such a big issue that still makes people angry today," Hogg said.

Outside the abbey, the Queen later laid a wreath at the Innocent Victims Memorial in honour of all those who suffered and still suffer from slavery.

Leo Muhammad of the Nation of Islam wasn't impressed.

"Crocodile tears," he said. "The Queen is complicit; the monarchy is complicit. All this you see around here was built on slavery."

Penitence notwithstanding, this is a historic hurt that courses deep in the psyche, 200 years later.

“It’s surprisingly professional these days,” he says, “with specialization and going market rates that are fairly well respected.”

This information is traded like any other commodity in an underground marketplace. There are even marketing promotions to entice buyers, such as volume discounts.

Symantec says the going rate for an active debit or credit card account number right now is anywhere from $1 to $6. A full stolen identity, including bank account information, date of birth and Social Security number, sells for $14 to $18. So you can see, to make any money, the identity thief has to keep stealing from new victims.

There’s a target on your home computer
According to the new Internet Security Report home computers are now the prime target for cyber-thieves. In fact, during the last half of 2006, 93 percent of all targeted attacks were aimed at home machines. ID thieves know many of us store sensitive data, such as banking information, on our computers. They also know we often get careless when it comes to security.

Dave Cole tells me it takes too much effort to break into big financial institutions. The online thieves know they have a much greater chance of success stealing that information from you.

They want your account numbers and passwords, but they’re also after your log-ins to online services — banks, eBay, PayPal, or any other place where there’s something of value. If they can snag your e-mail contact lists, they can sell that information to spammers.

Mega church launches an audit
Prayer Palace also hires PR firm in wake of questions over its spending practices

A Toronto mega church whose spending practices were questioned in a recent Star investigation has hired a public relations firm specializing in "crisis communication" and launched an internal financial probe, a spokesman said yesterday।

The Prayer Palace, which annually takes in about $3 million in cash and other donations, hired an auditor to "show everything is above-board and there is no money being laundered anywhere," said Frank Fernandez, a church member who spoke on behalf of the Prayer Palace during local radio station AM640's morning broadcast.

The church's newly appointed public relations consultant, Strategic Communications Solutions' Peter Turkington, said in a news release the church has hired a "forensic accounting firm to show that the Star's innuendos are entirely incorrect." Turkington later told the Star the audit will be conducted by Toronto accountant Bruce Armstrong, a member of LECG Canada Ltd.

The audit launch comes one week after the Star published a story on the Prayer Palace as part of an ongoing investigation into Canadian charities. With a 3,000-member congregation, the Prayer Palace is one of the largest churches in Canada, but spends only a small fraction of its income on charitable work. Instead, some of the charity's most highly touted programs are paid for by many of the church's working class members, whose lifestyles stand in sharp contrast to those led by church leaders.

Head pastor Paul Melnichuk and his twin sons, junior pastors Tom and Tim Melnichuk, each own multi-million dollar estates north of the city, they share a waterfront vacation villa in Florida and drive luxurious cars, including Porsches, a Lexus, a Mercedes-Benz and BMWs. The pastors have refused repeated requests for comment. Reporters were told that written questions submitted to the pastors via the church regarding their properties and other possessions were "not related to charities."

No further explanation was given.

The Star was unable to access the Prayer Palace's internal documents, so it could not determine if money donated to the church went into the pastors' houses.

Since the article's March 4 publication, reporters involved in the story have been inundated with phone calls from angry Prayer Palace members.

"You have touched God's anointed! Be careful! Be careful that you don't drop dead one of these days," shouted one caller who identified himself as Roger.

Other callers said that to ignore their warnings would be to invite tragedy into reporters' lives, including leprosy and possible physical harm.

One caller issued a death threat; another called a reporter a "Mormon ... a racist."

The Star also received hundreds of calls and emails from readers concerned about the Prayer Palace's finances.

Dozens of callers told the Star they planned to log specific complaints with the Canada Revenue Agency, which regulates charities, in hopes the agency would launch its own probe.

The CRA does not discuss specific charities and would not say whether the Star's articles have prompted an agency review of the Prayer Palace.

The public relations firm hired by Prayer Palace, Strategic Communications Solutions, is based in Oshawa and Oakville. According to its website, the company helps clients respond to crises such as allegations of impropriety. The auditor hired by the church is a member of LECG, a company that provides expert testimony and analysis to clients around the world, according to its website.

The Star's investigation, based on government property and financial documents, interviews with three dozen current and former church members, contractors who worked on church and Melnichuk family building projects, and family associates, also uncovered a deal Melnichuk made with a construction company to pave his own King City driveway instead of paying rental fees it owed the church.

In his radio interview yesterday, Fernandez addressed the driveway deal, saying the pastor "didn't ask for any specific deals. He says somebody went out for him and asked for the driveway to be done," Fernandez said, adding: "There is no hidden agenda here with respect to money."

Last week Marek Tufman, a lawyer for the Prayer Palace, threatened to bring an injunction against the Star unless the newspaper agreed to stop publishing stories regarding the Prayer Palace. The Star responded, saying such agreements run contrary to the paper's policy.

In response, Tufman told Star lawyers: "Your clients have been warned. We trust that they will understand the wisdom of conducting themselves properly."

The following events took place today ...some details have been omitted to protect the identities of those involved:

My mother made an appointment for me to see Dr. C. at 2:45 p.m. today. When I arrived at the doctor’s office, I was asked to provide my health card. I did so and was told that my health card had expired. I told the receptionist that it had been less than a month since my card had expired. I told them that my mother, [name omitted], was a patient there, that she had booked my appointment, and that she was a senior business advisor at the [bank] located adjacent to the doctor’s office in the same plaza. I also pulled out $40 cash and dropped it onto the counter, telling the receptionist that I was sick and urgently needed to see a doctor. The receptionist then told me that I had not visited their office in seven years and that she would have to create a new file for me. She abruptly handed back my health card and money, while rudely commanding me to “sit!”

I took a seat, put on my headphones, and began to read in preparation for my exam. After about 15 minutes had transpired, the receptionist called me to the front counter and told me that the doctor was refusing to see me – I was told to go to [name omitted] in order to have my health card renewed. Indignant, I asked 'what about the Hippocratic Oath’? The receptionist ignored my question and told me to leave, saying that she would call the police if I did not comply. I asked her why the doctor had refused to see me and was told that it was because my health card expired and because I had not visited in seven years. I told the receptionist that I was really sick and asked to speak with my doctor, but was told that she was busy attending to other patients and besides that, I had been rude. She even went on to say that I had swore – I DID NOT swear once during my visit.

I left the office, but returned to ask one of the other patients for their contact information because she had witnessed my having been asked to leave; she said that she would not give me her information, because "she did not want to get involved." It was at this point that one of the receptionists picked up the phone and called the police; at the same time, I called my mother and told her that the receptionists were denying me access to see our family doctor. Again, I asked to speak to [Dr. C.], as I was skeptical in regards to her having actually told the receptionists to tell me to leave in the first place. Then one of the other patients waiting behind me in line, who had just arrived, offered to provide his contact information to the receptionists, saying that he would bear witness in their favor. The other receptionist then came from behind the counter and started shoving me towards the door. I told receptionist to take her hands off of me, and that I felt they were discriminating against me. I told them that I was not trying to be rude, but that I felt extremely ill and needed to see a doctor. The same receptionist that had been shoving me replied that my assumption was invalid because she "has black cousins." Ironically, I never mentioned anything about race until after her assumption/inference that I was referring to discrimination in a racial context. At which point I left the office, calling the receptionists each ‘a racist’ and ‘a bigot’.

I have never felt so humiliated and discriminated against in my entire life. I left the doctor's office completely devastated and distraught. After sitting in my car for awhile, in shock, I drove around aimlessly for about an hour, and then went to the police station to report the receptionist’s having assaulted me; however, the officer on duty informed me that I was unable to make a statement because I was on private property and that it was within their rights to eject me by force. The officer did suggest that I get in contact with the Ontario Medical (or Physician’s) Association. I thanked the officer for his time, went home, and then began writing this statement.

I have not yet been able to see a doctor and I feel much worse than I did before this experience. I have an exam tomorrow that is worth 50% of my mark; additionally, I have a 2500 word essay due on Friday. I think that the receptionists working at the time of my visit should be fired, and that the office should be forced to pay punitive damages for the pain and suffering that they have caused me. I feel completely marginalized, disaffected, and alienated by today’s events. I am outraged that such an incident could occur right here in Canada, in 2007! No one should be made to feel as I have been made to feel. I was talked down to as though I was a second class citizen because my health card had expired. I was made to feel inferior and of less import that the other patients.

In the words of Willie Lynch in 1712, there are many ways in which you can keep control of your "slaves". His wisdom of 295 years has not changed. It's time to wake up Black America!

GENTLEMAN:

I greet you here on the bank of the James River in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and twelve. First I shall thank you, the Gentlemen of the Colony of Virginia, for bringing me here. I am here to help you solve some of your problems with slaves. Your invitation reached me on my modest plantation in the West Indies where I have experimented with some of the newest and still the oldest methods for control of slaves. Ancient Rome would envy us if my program is implemented. As our boat sailed south on the James River, named for our illustrious King James, whose bible we cherish, I saw enough to know that your program is not unique. While Rome used cords of wood as crosses for standing human bodies along the old highways in great numbers, you are here using the tree and the rope on occasion.

I caught the whiff of a dead slave hanging from a tree a couple of miles back. You are not only losing valuable stock by hangings, you are having uprisings, slaves are running away, your crops are sometimes left in the fields too long for maximum profit, you suffer occasional fires, your animals are killed, gentlemen...you know what your problems are; I do not need to elaborate. I am not here to enumerate your problems, I am here to introduce you to a method of solving them.

In my bag here, I have a fool-proof method for controlling your black slaves. I guarantee everyone of you that if installed correctly it will control the slaves for at least 300 years. My method is simple, any member of your family or any overseer can use it.

I have outlined a number of differences among the slaves, and I take these differences and make them bigger. I use fear, distrust, and envy for control purposes. These methods have worked on my modest plantation in the West Indies, and it will work throughout the South. Take this simple little test of differences and think about them. On the top of my list is "Age", but it is there because it only starts with an "A"; the second is "Color" or shade; there is intelligence, size, sex, size of plantations, attitude of owners, whether the slaves live in the valley, on a hill, East, West, North, South, have fine or coarse hair, or is tall or short. Now that you have a list of differences, I shall give you an outline of action--but before that, I shall assure you that distrust is stronger than trust, and envy is stronger than adulation, respect, or admiration.

The Black Slave, after receiving this indoctrination, shall carry on and will become self refueling and self generating for hundreds of years, maybe thousands.

Don't forget, you must pitch the old Black vs. the young Black male, and the young Black male against the old Black male. You must use the dark skinned slaves vs the light skinned slaves, and the light skinned slaves vs. the dark skinned slaves. You must use the female vs. the male, and the male vs. the female. You must also have your servants and overseers distrust all Blacks, but it is necessary that your slaves trust and depend on us. They must love, respect, and trust only us.

Gentlemen, these kits are your keys to control, use them. Have your wives and children use them. Never miss opportunity. My plan is guaranteed, and the good thing about this plan is that if used intensely for one year, the slaves themselves will remain perpetually distrustful.

Said Ali, 21, is a volunteer fighter for the Shabab militia, the feared enforcers of the Islamic Courts Union. The U.S. brands the organization as an ally of al-Qaeda; in reality, it is also a nationalist anti-warlord movement that contains many Muslim moderates and has no international ambitions. He was 11 when he left his village in southern Somalia and traveled to Mogadishu to look for an education. But all public education had collapsed with the last functioning government in 1991, leaving private school the only option. And Said Ali, like most of his generation, was unable to afford the fees. Instead, he found a job as a porter, and then graduated to selling shirts and kikoi wraps by the side of the road. In time, he was given a job inside a clothes store in Bakara Market, where he earned about 10,000 Somali shillings (80 cents) a day. But often he would be forced to hand over his earnings to armed militias blocking the roads on his way home. He came out of hiding in central Mogadishu to meet TIME's Alex Perry.

TIME: How did you join the Shabab?

Ali: I was very angry with the militias. I decided to go to the training camps because I was tired of being robbed at roadblocks. At that time, before the Courts came to power, you could see someone kill a friend of yours, you could see a friend of yours robbed, the situation was as bad as that. The Shabab were good people. They trained you to defend your people ... . There were reserve troops and frontline troops. And after 2004, we fought against the warlords and thankfully we were successful

Arrest Made In Two York U Attacks

Police have a suspect in a pair of attacks on women in the York University area and now they're trying to get in touch with the victims.
Authorities won't say if the man arrested Wednesday shortly after two assaults on women on Sentinel Road near York U are connected to two sex attacks that occurred in the same area late last month, but he is considered one of several persons of interest in that investigation (see composite).

Police said another attack also occurred Wednesday, shortly before the assault witnessed by the Good Samaritan. Investigators also want to speak to the victim in that incident.

Corruption. Hmmm? And I thought that the Children's Aid Society (CAS) was supposed to be about saving the babies, not about driving around in fancy cars. Banking executives, okay, I can see that, but CAS executives? I mean, c'mon?!?!?! Oh well, I guess that just gives us students all the more incentive to finish up school and join 'em. Eh?

Ont. Auditor General's Report To Highlight Irregular CAS Spending
Tuesday December 5, 2006

They're taxpayer dollars meant to help some of the province's most vulnerable children.

But according to leaked portions of the provincial auditor general's report, due out Tuesday, that cash has been going to something completely different, namely, luxury vehicles and foreign trips for executives at Ontario Children's Aid societies.

The provincial government has so far refused to comment on the apparent irregular spending, details of which first surfaced last week. Aside from trips and cars, it's believed money was also spent on gym memberships. Premier Dalton McGuinty promised he'd come up with an "action plan" to deal with the problems.

"Upon receiving the information, the minister of children and youth services began immediately to put together a plan," McGuinty told the legislature.

"She met with representatives of Children's Aid societies, and she's going to make that plan public (Tuesday)."

Opposition Leader John Tory slammed the Liberals for not dealing with the issue sooner.

"My suspicion is that they knew about this a long time ago, and they had done nothing until it broke in the media, and then the decided they better have an action plan," Tory said.

"I think it's a scandal that money meant for vulnerable children should be spent on gym memberships and trips and expensive cars."

NDP Leader Howard Hampton also criticized the province, calling the "action plan" little more than damage control.

But Children and Youth Services Minister Mary Anne Chambers dismissed Hampton's charge, assuring that the plan has been weeks in the making.

Auditor General Jim McCarter's annual report will focus on the spending habits of 11 different provincial agencies and programs including the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), Hydro One and the Ontario Power Generation.

It's the first time McCarter has had the authority to investigate the CAS, hospitals and school boards in addition to government ministries and agencies.

At that time, a female reported being assaulted by an unknown male assailant.

OK, so I've been with PayPerPost for about a month now. I haven't received any funds yet but I've had a couple of my posts approved already so I should be receiving something within a month.

In truth, I would be expecting much more but I've been pretty busy with school and what not; finals (exams and term papers) are just around the corner. I plan to do a lot more writing over the holidays to make up for lost time.

Woman assaulted near York University campus

Toronto Police have issued a public safety alert after a weekend sexual assault near York University’s Keele campus.
A young woman told police that someone grabbed her from behind while she was walking in the Murray Ross Pkwy. and Sentinel Rd. area just south of the campus around 6 p.m. Saturday, police said.

The suspect put a gun to her head and dragged her between two houses where the alleged sexual assault took place, police said.

Police are searching for a clean-shaven man in his late 20s or early 30s, six feet tall, whose head was possibly shaved.

He was wearing a red T-shirt and black baseball cap at the time and was last seen running westward.

“We have stepped up security patrols both on foot and in vehicles,” York University spokesperson Richard Fisher said today, adding that security personnel patrol “slightly beyond” the perimeter of the campus.

Fisher said there were security patrols Saturday evening, “but we’ve stepped up the frequency now.”

The university has posted a statement online and around campus reminding students of the security services offered on campus.

Google to broker print ads in U.S. newspapers

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov 5 (Reuters) - Google Inc. is set to begin helping customers buy advertisements in 50 U.S. newspapers in a test of how the Web search leader can extend its business into offline media, the company said on Sunday.
Google said it has invited more than 100 advertisers already buying ads through its Web marketing system to join a three-month test of a Print Ads service that places ads in daily papers including the New York Times and Washington Post.
If the trial is successful, Google could extend the program to hundreds of thousands of its online advertising customers, offering newspapers a broad new sales channel that could help offset an ongoing decline in classified print advertising.
"For advertisers, it gives them access to a network of newspapers through an online interface and the ability to potentially reach a new customer base," Google spokesman Michael Mayzel said in response to questions via e-mail.
A year ago, Google, of Mountain View, California, began an earlier test in which it started selling print advertising in a handful of magazines, including PC Magazine. However, demand for the service was slow to take off, executives said in May.
Mayzel contrasted the earlier magazine program to the current newspaper test by saying that, "This test is not an auction and we are not buying and reselling ad space."
In effect, Google is giving greater control over how ad sales are made. Advertisers log into the Google AdWords system and select newspapers and available ad space, then upload the advertising artwork. But newspaper publishers retain creative and financial control over whether to approve or reject bids.
The advertisements will appear in 50 metropolitan newspapers, including the Boston Globe, Seattle Times, the Philadelphia Inquirer and Chicago Tribune, along with papers in the Gannett Co. Inc. newspaper chain, the Google spokesman said.
Print advertising joins efforts by Google to expand into radio and video ads, allowing it to move beyond its Web-search marketing business that delivers pay-per-click text ads on its own site and others and accounts for the bulk of its revenue.
Google already offers click-to-play video ads through Web sites in its ad affiliate network. It has said it plans to start a public test of its Google Audio Ads that brokers ads on radio stations by the end of this year, Mayzel said.
During the test program, Google's services will be free, but it plans on taking a sales commission eventually. "In the future, we will set up a revenue share model where the majority of the ad revenue will go to the publisher," he said.

Saddam Sentenced To Death

Saddam Hussein defiantly shouted out in court Sunday as the Iraqi High Tribunal convicted and sentenced him to death for crimes against humanity.
The ousted dictator responded to his death sentence by shouting, "God is great!"

Saddam, his half brother, and another former official in his regime were sentenced to hang for the murders of 148 people in the town of Dujail in 1982, following an assassination attempt on the former leader.

Three of his co-defendants received jail sentences and a seventh was acquitted. (See below)

The former leader's defence team plans to appeal the verdict within 30 days. The death sentences automatically go to a nine-judge appeals panel that has unlimited time to review the case. If it decides to uphold the sentences, the executions must be carried out within 30 days.

Iraqi authorities imposed a curfew and beefed up security across Baghdad in the days leading up to the verdict in an effort to curb sectarian violence that's been plaguing the country. A curfew had been imposed, extra checkpoints were put in place and all leave for military personnel had been cancelled.

After the court hearing, one of Saddam's lawyers called on Iraqis to keep the peace and not to take revenge against U.S. forces.

"His message to the Iraqi people was `pardon and do not take revenge on the invading nations and their people'," lawyer Khalil al-Dulaimi said. "The president also asked his countrymen to `unify in the face of sectarian strife."'

Violence broke out almost immediately in Baghdad's Sunni Azamiyah district after the verdict was announced and there was gunfire in other areas of the capital, but it was celebratory.

There were also celebrations in the city where the massacre occurred more than two decades ago. Dujail residents burned pictures of the former dictator and celebrated in the streets.

The tone was much different in Saddam's hometown of Tikrit, where residents defied the curfew and declared the court that convicted their former leader was a product of the American "occupation forces" and condemned the verdict.

Saddam remained defiant through much of his trial and U.S. officials said that may have played a role in his conviction and sentence.

In an outburst on March 1 Saddam told the court that ordering the deaths of the 148 Shiites was legal because the government suspected an assassination attempt against him.

"The verdict placed on the heads of the former regime does not represent a verdict for any one person. It is a verdict on a whole dark era that has was unmatched in Iraq's history," Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said Sunday.

The sentences are served concurrently in cases where a defendant received more than one conviction and sentence:

The nineteenth century saw immense changes in Africa. Some were driven by famine and disease. Some changes were the result of the territorial ambitions of African rulers. As the century progressed alliances with merchants and missionaries from Europe began increasingly to have a bearing on how African leaders achieved their goals.

At the beginning of the century, Europeans were still hugely ignorant of the continent. The systematic colonisation of Africa, which gathered momentum in the 1880's, was not even on the horizon in the first half of the 19th century. Europeans had confined themselves to trading mainly along the coast. Inland the trade in slaves and commodities was handled by African and Arab merchants.

With the British abolition of the slave trade in 1807, the British navy took to patrolling the coasts, intercepting other nations's slave ships.

In the last two decades of the 19th century conflicts and rivalries in Europe began to affect people in Africa directly. In the 1880's European powers divided Africa up amongst themselves without the consent of people living there, and with limited knowledge of the land they had taken.

In 1914 conflict in Europe came to a head and the First World War broke out. The contribution of African people to the war effort was crucial.

Underground Poker Players Targeted: Police Say Abduction Was Extortion Attempt

York Regional Police are now calling the abduction of a professional poker player on Tuesday a case of extortion.
"It was definitely a kidnapping for an extortion. They wanted money from him and they were extorting him for many," confirms Cst. Laurie Perks.

We told you Wednesday night how Chee Kian Chan walked into York Region Police Headquarters around 7pm and identified himself to authorities. That ended an extensive search for the man who was last seen being forced into a car in his Richmond Hill condo parking garage.

The 28-year-old victim suffered some minor injuries and was treated in hospital.

"He was unaware of a lot of things during his ordeal," Perks adds. "He didn't know what they looked like. His vision was concealed and so he therefore didn't know where he was through most of his ordeal."

Chan believes intense scrutiny from the stories about his case led to his release, with his kidnappers clearly not expecting the publicity spotlight.

And police now have their first real clues about the suspects they're looking for. They're said to be three white males who all spoke English. They were driving a black Mercedes SUV, which was caught on security camera leaving the scene of the crime. To get a closer look at the car, click the thumbnail below.

Residents of 23 Oneida Crescent, where the crime took place, are still feeling shaken by the incident, and have been complaining about lax security in the Yonge and Highway 7 complex for some time.

Chan's return has eased their anxiety, but only slightly.

"It was really surprising," admits Jennifer Harper as she heads out of the parking garage where the drama began Tuesday afternoon.

"I mean I'm glad that at least they have something to go on. It was pretty scary being a resident of the building and not knowing, you know, who was abducted and was it really an abduction? It's interesting to know at least there's someone and at least they're safe now."

Brenda Hebbi hopes cops get to the bottom of the case quickly. "It was scary how something happens in this kind of neighbourhood. But at least, thank God, that he turned himself in to the police."

Chan placed seventh in a professional poker tournament last November. He won just over $44,000. Cops are probing whether his connection to gambling was part of the reason he was taken. They hope to have those answers - and a lot of others - very soon.

I could hear the breath being sucked in by those that just paid that webmaster $40,000 for that flashy home page that looks cool and has wonderful sound or perhaps our jingle. Is it too late to cancel that check to Web Design Company???

Dave is correct. A web page is now equal with every other page in Internet. A flashy cool site might be cool for the geek squad but it means nothing to the customers that are out there Googling about your widget. I keep trying to find a way to debate with Dave, but he continues to evangelize my thoughts.

A York University librarian has been charged with luring a child over the internet. Forty-five-year-old Nicholas Pengellley, a chief law librarian at York, was arrested at work on Thursday.

Police monitored the suspect's behaviour online for quite some time before making an arrest.

An undercover officer apparently posed as a 12-year-old year during the investigation.

"During the conversation, this individual expressed an interest in meeting what he believed was a 12-year-old girl, for some sort of sexual purpose," reveals Cst. Pete Brandwood.

The internet child exploitation unit fears there may be more victims out there and want to hear from anyone who have had contact with the suspect.

A white hat hacker, also rendered as ethical hacker, is, in the realm of information technology, a person who is ethically opposed to the abuse of computer systems. The term is derived from American western movies, where the protagonist typically wore a white cowboy hat and the antagonist typically wore a black one. Realizing that the Internet now represents human voices from all around the world makes the defense of its integrity an important pastime for many. A white hat generally focuses on securing IT systems, whereas a black hat (the opposite) would like to break into them — but this is a simplification. A black hat will wish to secure his own machine, and a white hat might need to break into a black hat’s machine in the course of an investigation. What exactly differentiates white hats and black hats is open to interpretation, but white hats tend to cite altruistic motivations.

The term white hat hacker is also often used to describe those who attempt to break into systems or networks in order to help the owners of the system by making them aware of security flaws, or to perform some other altruistic activity. Many such people are employed by computer security companies; these professionals are sometimes called sneakers. Groups of these people are often called tiger teams.

The primary difference between white and black hat hackers is that a white hat hacker claims to observe the hacker ethic. Like black hats, white hats are often intimately familiar with the internal details of security systems, and can delve into obscure machine code when needed to find a solution to a tricky problem.

An example of a hack: Microsoft Windows ships with the ability to use cryptographic libraries built into the operating system. When shipped overseas this feature becomes nearly useless as the operating system will refuse to load cryptographic libraries that haven’t been signed by Microsoft, and Microsoft will not sign a library unless the U.S. government authorizes it for export. This allows the U.S. government to maintain some perceived level of control over the use of strong cryptography beyond its borders.

While hunting through the symbol table of a beta release of Windows, a couple of overseas hackers managed to find a second signing key in the Microsoft binaries. That is, without disabling the libraries that are included with Windows (even overseas), these individuals learned of a way to trick the operating system into loading a library that hadn’t been signed by Microsoft, thus enabling the functionality which had been lost to non-U.S. users.

Whether this is good or bad may depend on whether one respects the letter of the law, but is considered by some in the computing community to be a white hat type of activity. Some use the term grey hat or (very rarely) brown hat to describe someone on the borderline between black and white.

In recent years the terms Whitehat and Blackhat have been applied to the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) industry. Black hat SEO tactics, also called spamdexing, attempt to unfairly redirect search results to particular target pages, whereas white hat methods are generally approved by the search engines.

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 15, 2006) - The Honourable Gordon O'Connor, Minister of National Defence, issued the following statement today on the deaths of Sergeant Darcy Scott Tedford and Private Blake Neil Williamson:

"The Canadian Forces mourn the deaths of Sergeant Darcy Scott Tedford and Private Blake Neil Williamson who paid the ultimate sacrifice yesterday in Afghanistan.

No words can express the grief of family and friends when loved ones are lost.

My heartfelt thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of Sergeant Tedford and Private Williamson. We also hope for a speedy recovery of those injured today.

Sergeant Tedford and Private Williamson were killed when their unit was ambushed near a road development project in the Panjwayi area of Afghanistan, west of Kandahar. This road project is vital to local development and progress.

The risks involved in our mission in Afghanistan are present, but the men and women of the Canadian Forces remain committed to the mission to help Afghan people establish a better future.

Canadians support and commend their determination, and I am forever grateful for the sacrifice of Sergeant Tedford and Private Williamson."

A Tenuous Society is the Trouble (edited)

Turmoil and a tenuous society don't mix. Right here in Toronto, we are in the middle of a particularly nasty spate of gun violence. There is a coroners inquest into the death of Jeffrey Reodica, a 17 year-old who was shot three times in the back, killed by a Toronto Police officer. Israel is dropping bombs in the so-called holy land, summarily executing Palestinian children, and for what? The life of a 19 year-old baby killer? The CIA is looking into my personal banking records; they are also looking into the banking records of my fellow citizens.

The schools are racist and this makes me a marginalized visible minority upon whom the epithet 'anti-racist' is bestowed, further making me he whom is accused of perpetrating reverse racism. Neverminding the fact that my biological parents represent the full racial divide/spectrum from original/black to grafted/white. This gives me pause for thought to contemplate my future educational endeavors while I puzzle over how I am supposed to be benefit beyond receiving a degree from occasionally attending my University classes. Perhaps this is why I am somewhat at a loss to explain how I could have been foolish enough to allow my ambivalence towards society to lead me to such an impoverished mental state as I now find myself in.

Have I, in all my attempts to relate to my fellow neighbors on this planet called Earth, forgotten what it means to have 'knowledge of self'? They say 'a mind is terrible thing to waste' while they waste away the mental. This makes me ponder whether indeed an implicit 'nevertheless clause' has at some point been imbued within the secret dogma and morals of such a precocious western society in that of which, I, in part, constitute. Nevertheless, I strive towards personal growth and development, constantly actualizing of the praxis of my struggle,viz.: I live, I learn, I die, and then I return to the essence.

Mark Schwann and Chad Michael Murray both have plenty to be happy about after having sold their creation YouTube for $2.2 billion. It strikes me as odd though that Google would pay so much for a site that doesn't even make money yet, especially considering the fact they already have a YouTube-like site, Google Video.

Watch out, before we know it Google may actually buy out their biggest competitor, Microsoft. But we'll just have to wait and see. Stay tuned....

It can be hard enough convincing an insurance company that you were hurt in a fender bender, but imagine how hard it would be to convince your agent that you suffered physical harm from alien probes and experiments.

That's where German lawyer Jens Lorek steps in. He's hoping to boost his practice by taking on state compensation claims for people who say they were abducted by aliens.

"There's quite obviously demand for legal advice here," Jens Lorek said. "The trouble is, people are afraid of making fools of themselves in court."

Groups that watch the skies report several alien assaults occur every year and Lorek, a lawyer based in Dresden who specializes in social and labour law, says because of that there are plenty of potential clients for him to represent.

He hasn't won a compensation claim yet, but he's hoping a German law that grants state compensation to kidnap victims will turn his luck around.

If he ever does win a case, you can be sure the amount will be out of this world.

Senator Colin Kenny yesterday urged Prime Minister Stephen Harper to go on national television to make the case for Canada's participation in a conflict that has so far killed 39 soldiers.

Kenny also criticized the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), saying the agency has not been able to show real evidence of its work in southern Afghanistan.

"We simply have not been able to get any figures that demonstrate that aid is going into Kandahar. This concerns us a great deal," Kenny said. "We're concerned that CIDA cannot track where its funding is going. If it's going on, CIDA can't tell you about it. We've been looking now for a number of months."

He warned that without a strong development package, the mission in southern Afghanistan was at risk. "We don't think you can change the way people think in Afghanistan with the point of a bayonet.

THE TWO GREAT LIGHTS BY EQUALITY BORN TRUE EARTH

Peace My beloved Brothers and sisters...

When we focus our attention on the science of lights, we see that it is an illuminating agent or source that makes things visible, but as we analyze the above scriptural quote, we see that god made to great lights to RULE.

The English spelling of the word rule is taken from the Latin word REGUL(A) which means "pattern", thus we can infer that to rule is the pattern or code of conduct in which one utilizes to govern or control a person, place, or thing.

So, what are the two great lights that God made to rule the day and the night? The two great lights are symbolical representation of KNOWLEDGE and WISDOM due to the fact that knowledge is the greater light that rules the day (i.e. SPIRITUAL) and wisdom is the lesser light that rules the night (i.e. MATERIAL)

Now, I know that some of you are saying that this can not be so for the cause the great light is the Sun and the lesser light is the moon, but if you were to take the initiative upon yourself to seek the truth of these things, instead of taking things on face value, then you would be able to bare witness to the above stated fact due to the fact that the Sun represents the Spiritual and the Moon represents the Material for that cause the moon was once apart of the earth before one of our Master Scientists became discouraged and tried to bring about a complete metamorphosis some 66 trillion years ago, according to the messenger of Allah who came in the person of the Hon. Elijah Muhammad, and this is the truth that you learn in American Educational System as far as the Big Bang THEROY goes.

Yes, the Sun and knowledge are one and the same, due to the fact that they have neither beginning nor ending. Thus just as the Sun conducts or governs the pattern of all life, as does Knowledge conduct one's pattern of life.

The Moon serves as the reflector of the Sun's light just as wisdom is the reflection of Knowledge that is housed in ones innerspace (mind).

So, Why did God make the greater light, i.e. KNOWLEDGE to rule the day and the lesser light, i.e. WISDOM to rule the night?

KNOWLEDGE is the weight upon one's brain, which enables us to accumulate facts--brings animal existence into reality.

"THE DAY" is a symbolic representation of the knowledge manifesting itself in 3 stages of growth and development: PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND SPIRITUAL.

Therefore, we can infer that the greater light that rules the day is KNOWLEDGE OF TRUTH that enables one to SEE all the things clearly and for what they really are due to the fact that, that which is great is indeed of the "utmost importance".

Now you may de wondering how did I come to the conclusion that "The Day" is symbolic to the 3 stages of growth and development?! Well, Mathematics born this reality due to the fact if that if you were to add the letters in the word day, you will arrive at the number 30, (i.e. D=4; A=1; Y=25) (4+1+25=30) Thus the 3rd degree in the Supreme Mathematics is UNDERSTANDING add a CIPHER or zero as you may know it to be, manifests the reality of that which is "complete".

Bush wants to nuke Iran

Premeditation Shows Criminal Intent

The Bush administration will present the nuking of Iran as a "grave decision," the "gravest decision" a president ever had to make, reached after much "agonizing," necessary to save American, Israeli, Iraqi, and Iranian lives. In order to appreciate the magnitude of the crime, we must understand that this is not so; it is a premeditated act, and the elements to make it happen were carefully and methodically assembled over many years. Let us review some key pieces of evidence:

The IAEA vote. The U.S. pursued a declaration of Iran's noncompliance for several years. The U.S. finally succeeded in getting the very weak Sept. 24, 2005, resolution passed, which has no practical consequences other than allowing for the U.S. to use nuclear weapons against Iran "legally." The relentless pursuit of this declaration over several years, and making ElBaradei's reappointment conditional on it [1], [2], [3], was motivated by the exclusion clause in the 1995 negative security assurance, and indicates that the decision to nuke Iran was made several years ago.
Executive Order 13292 was issued March 2003, making the items "weapons of mass destruction" and "defense against transnational terrorism" classified. When the public finally learns that the administration had classified information about these items (shared with selected members of Congress, including Democrats), which justified the forward deployment of nuclear weapons in the Persian Gulf, it will be clear that the executive order was made so that this information could be kept classified and not subject to public scrutiny, thus also indicating that the decision to nuke Iran was made several years ago.
StratCom news release. The Strategic Command news release of Nov. 18, 2005, which stated that its "global strike" plan (already leaked earlier) had reached "operational capability," had one clear purpose: to remind China and Russia that they are in the U.S. crosshairs, and that any intervention by them in response to the U.S. strikes on Iran will be met with a "nuclear preemptive strike."
Hadley's appointment. Stephen Hadley, a nuclear weapons "enthusiast," was appointed deputy national security adviser in 2001. As a consequence, he could be moved smoothly and silently to the key position of national security adviser in the second Bush term with very little media attention (though it did get some). This indicates that the plan was in place as far back as 2001.
John Bolton and other "nuclear warriors." John Bolton's appointment as ambassador to the UN, against extraordinary bipartisan opposition, bypassing Congress, placing him in a position where he clearly does not belong, does not appear to make sense. It is understandable, however, if the reason for the appointment was that he would be the best person to defend the U.S. nuking of Iran at the UN. Several other "nuclear warriors" were placed in key positions at the beginning of the second Bush administration, positions that do not require special expertise in nuclear weapons. The use of nuclear weapons was apparently a given for the second Bush term.
Nuclear Posture Review. The "leaking" of carefully selected "excerpts" of the Nuclear Posture Review of 2002 was a deliberate effort to prepare the nation and the world for the nuking of Iran, several years before it was to take place.
NSPD 35. The classified presidential directive that, as we will learn soon enough, authorizes the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in the Persian Gulf, was signed in May 2004.
B61-11. The development and deployment of the B61-11 nuclear bunker-buster gathered momentum around 1995, at the same time that the U.S. began voicing serious concerns about Iran's nuclear program and Clinton imposed an economic embargo on Iran.
Accusations against Iran. Accusations with no basis in reality have built up over many years. The "nuclear" aspect was always emphasized so that the public would accept the nuking of Iran. In particular, the baseless assertions in the 1998 Rumsfeld report that (1) "[Iran] has a nuclear energy and weapons program, which aims to design, develop, and as soon as possible produce nuclear weapons," (2) "Iran has acquired and is seeking major, advanced missile components that can be combined to produce ballistic missiles with sufficient range to strike the United States," and (3) "[Iran] might be able to develop a nuclear weapon in only one to three years" are meant to prepare Congress and the public for a nuclear strike on Iran.
Invasion of Iraq. The U.S. invasion of Iraq makes no sense in isolation; in fact, it has left Iran in a much stronger position in the region. Iran is the real regional power that can challenge U.S. interests in the long term, but in order to attack Iran in 2006, the 2003 invasion of Iraq was a necessary prelude. Preparations for the Iraq invasion, and hence for the Iran attack, began at least as far back as 2001.

All of this evidence indicates substantial planning and premeditation. A well-established principle in criminal law dictates that substantial planning and premeditation is a severe aggravating circumstance.

It is the latest tussle between York and the 61-year-old scholar, who also fights York's policy of cancelling classes on Jewish holidays by cancelling his own classes on Muslim holidays as well.

is directly responsible for a disproportionate amount of suffering inflicted everywhere in this world, whether you are blind to this fact or not. Consider Donald Rumsfeld with his 'free people make mistakes, like killing other people by accident' comment. Add up the amount of Arab/Muslim deaths that were caused by American policy and then compare that to the amount of American deaths caused by Arab/Muslim/(Osama Bin Laden?/) policy, then tell me if the Americans had it coming to them or not. I do not sponsor/support terrorism. I am a Canadian citizen, born and raised in this country. I do not advocate any type of killing. Period. It's BUSH that came with the whole 'you're either with us or you're with the terrorists' rhetoric. Furthermore, most Canadians do think that the

Now, let us consider a likely scenario: A child is born today in Iraq. He grows up in a war ravished country. Everyday he sees US solders occupying his people's land. Assume he buys into the whole WMD/Al Qaeda B.S. Assume that his father is a member of the local police force. Let us now consider the not-so-unlikely-because-it-has-already-happened-more-than-once scenario: say his sister is raped/killed by a American soldier, but father prevents son from avenging sister because he believes in the laws espoused by the new protectorate, which subsequently finds the man's daughter a prostitute, deems the solder's actions as 'self-defense' on account of prostitute's trying to 'rob him'. The poor girl's innocent father, grief stricken loses his composure and attempts to visit the soldier that killed his daughter, only to be shot dead at the marine barracks for raising his voice in a 'menacing fashion' to the guard on duty. Twenty years later, the fatherless son hijacks a plane and flies it into the new world trade center.

Do you see a pattern emerging here? ...Western foreign policy is to blame for 9/11 -- none more; none less. They, the islamofascists or whatever new derogatory term you want to use to prejudice people against that which they know not, don't hate us because we are free. They hate our governments for inciting hate, and for spreading intolerance, consumerism, and injustice.

9/11 is the reason for this conclusion. I remember clearly when it happened. I was at work holding a picture of the first tower burning about 3 minutes after it happened. I've followed the story ever since. Most of you ignorant little puppets and bigots out there would do best to consider why you think the way you think, perhaps because you were conditioned to think as such? Ask yourself: why would someone want to strap a bomb to their chest and go blow themselves up? For God? For Allah? For one's country? I don't know one person who would do that for any of those reasons. I am a cognitive science major and I can tell you what an educated person might suggest: If you replace someone’s hope for a better future with your own hope for a better future, you make that person hopeless. If the hopeless are given some hope in that perhaps if they sacrifice their life, they might be able to make the world a better place for their kin and country -- well then that is exactly what will happen. People will kill themselves and take down as many others as they can until they regain that lost hope. If the west were to get off this whole 'do as we say, not as we do' paradigm (cf. arms proliferation, et al.,) perhaps this planet will yet have hope.

One last note: Can anyone out there name one empire/dynasty in the history of human civilization that has not fallen? There are none. Egypt/Rome/London ...they all fell. If Humpty Dumpty falls down, it's all good because we can put him back together again. If there is global thermonuclear war because the US refuses to hand over the reigns of power to the global community, viz., the UN, then we are all condemned to die regardless. And at least 9/11 served as a forewarning/indication/realization that perhaps people on this planet have had about as much as they can take when it comes to war, globalization, poverty, and injustice. Period

The school year got off to a harrowing start at York University on Tuesday after what police are calling an attempted murder/suicide following an apparent domestic dispute.
Investigators believe a woman distraught over a breakup turned violent at Vanier residence. Security people at York University called police and paramedics after a man turned up at a campus medical centre with a knife wound.

They found a young woman in her dorm unit with a more serious throat slash believed to be self-inflicted.

"It appears that two students were involved in a domestic dispute between themselves. Both appear to have suffered stab wounds and both have been taken to hospital," reveals York University Spokesman Alex Bilyk.
